365 Pictures: Day 8

This dizzying, and ever so slightly out of focus pic was taken in the stairwell of my apartment building.  I hauled my behind down the stairs and out the front door to take a picture of the sunset and then found that my camera didn’t have a card in it.  So back up I went, and you all get this.  Zumba kicked my butt tonight.

365 Pictures: Day 7

I actually took these on Saturday, but I got home too late to post, then woke up Sunday with a raging migraine and spent the day laying down.

So, as a backstory, some friends of mine planned a floating lanterns party after watching the movie “Tangled.”  So we went to the park, had a picnic, lit the lanterns, met people from all over the area who saw us and came to see what was happening (including people who were eating in the Olive Garden across the park), then went and watched “Tangled” again (we cheered the first time the lanterns showed up, but we’re dorks like that).

Anyway, it was a grea t night and we decided that we need to do it again.

365 Pictures: Day 6

I can’t believe I completely forgot last night, until I was literally crawling into bed.  Today’s I’ll admit was actually taken by my cell phone on my way out to a wedding reception.  The clouds were gorgeous and the sunset was breathtaking.  I wished I’d had my good camera with me.

365 Pictures: Day 5

This picture is called, “I Got Home from Zumba so Exhausted that I Couldn’t Be Bothered to Get Out My Camera and Take a Real Picture.”DSC_0001

His name is Wee Ninja and Sister#2 made him for me for Christmas a few years ago.  She made Sister#3 a fuzzy red pillow-like guy named Wee Kicky.  I’m a little jealous she got the fluffy one and I got the felt one but I digress.

365 Pictures: Day 4

Luckily I had a free evening so I got a good walk in.  I love this intersection by my building..  And before you think it’s an Eagle, it’s actually a Sea Gull.  I love living downtown.

One of the streets in the Avenues ends in this staircase down to the streets below.  I found it while on a walk with my parents last summer.  There’s something very random about it that I love.

365 Pictures: Day 3

I have a feeling that this project is going to become a series of pictures entitled, “Pictures From My Car Window.”

I do like it though.

365 Pictures: Day 2

I’ve got some vague idea that the title of this is something like “Upstream.”

I keep getting this mermaid feel from these pictures.  I took a bunch of pictures on that rock in the middle of the picture, but I didn’t think about how bright the sun was out there so they’re all super washed-out.  I took some cute ones on the closer rocks in my jeans.  One of them is now my Facebook profile pic.

I like this one too, but it’s not my favorite.  I had so many ideas when I found this spot up Big Cottonwood Canyon, but not all of them paid off.  I think I’ll have to go back there sometime soon, maybe at a different time of day, when the sun’s not so bright.DSC_0271

I also had a great idea about this rock.

DSC_0321I was going to wade out to it and then do a great “mermaid-esque” pose.  When I first started to go out I got up to my knee and still couldn’t find the bottom.  So I make my way out on the rocks down there (and almost fall in), then when I finally get out to the rock there is slime.  Creek slime.  It was gross.  So I get situated, but it’s been too long and the remote timed out.  I gave up on that idea.  But it would’ve been awesome.

365 Pictures: Day 1

I’ve decided that I need a new project.  So I’m going to try posting a picture every day for the next year, starting today.  They don’t have to be me, or good, or anything, just a picture I’ve taken that day.  Which is mainly to force me to get out my camera every day.  Far too often, it sits neglected in my bag, all alone, pitiful…okay, maybe not pitiful, but certainly forgotten.

Yes, that’s me, up Big Cottonwood Canyon, wading in a tributary of the creek.  I was wanted to wade in the creek, but the water was freezing and the rocks were so slimy I was going to fall down.  So I had to settle for the side stream.  I know the bicyclists up on the road were staring at me as they ran past, but part of me doesn’t care.
