Icy Mornings

Our weather’s been pretty mild this last week, with some rain/snow yesterday. Then this morning on my way from the car to the office I totally biffed it on the ice. I didn’t think the sidewalk was that icy until my foot slid out from under me. It’s funny, when I think about it everything freezes with my leg at about hip level, then all my consciousness goes to the pain in my hip. I think I might have closed my eyes…anyway, the most embarrassing part is that a coworker had just pulled up while I was getting out of my car and I fell right in front of his car. He told me, “I looked up and thought ‘where did she go?’ then I put my foot on the pavement and thought ‘oh, that’s where she went.’ “ Luckily for me, he missed the actual fall. He got out to find me just lying there, laughing to keep from dying of embarrassment. It’s funny how fast it happened, I think I just gasped, I didn’t even have time to scream (which he would have noticed). I’m fine, I got up on my own and slid over to the grass to make my way in the building. My ego’s bruised, and my hip (it’s going to be spectacular!), but at least I didn’t break anything or whack my head. It’s extra ironic, because I didn’t even want to go to work today, I’ve got this cold that’s totally wiping me out.

Can I go back to Mexico yet? (More on that trip when I finally finish the post.)

Hello Monday.
